Hip, Hip Hooray!
It is with great pleasure that the Fundraising Committee can announce that this year’s Le Chéile fundraising event on Saturday 15th May raised in excess of €4,400 for our school library. A brilliant total I’m sure you will agree!
Although the FRC would love to take full credit for this amount raised, sadly we cannot. Without a doubt it was all down to the hard work of the wonderful cooks, bookworms and children in our school community. The beautiful artwork on display was a sea of colour at the start of the afternoon and a delight for all to view. We have some very talented artists in our midst! And, this was closely followed by our cake stall, which was awash with goodies (and calories) to tempt even those who don’t have a sweet tooth.
In the absence of our ‘mike-friendly’ Chairman, we were stuck for a booming voice on the PA system for the raffle. However, this was quickly solved by 2 members of our Student Council and many other students throughout the afternoon. Well done kids! We were very lucky to have such an array of great raffle gifts on offer and we hope that every winner was pleased with their prize.
Our book stall was crammed with books to cover all ages and genres. The quality of the books was so high that we even set aside many children’s books for the school library – that way our children can read them during their time in Le Chéile and it’s a healthy start to building our library. The funds raised will be used to purchase a computer-based book tracking system and literature for all age ranges. We have the shelving in place, so it’s full steam ahead.
There are so many words of thanks to so many people, that it’s impossible to name you all. Our helpers on the day were wonderful and you all willingly come along and ‘mucked in’ where required. We must, however, mention special thanks to: Liam Kelly; Jackie Power; Susan McCullen and the Student Council; Drogheda Grammar School; Brenda Boyle and our multi-talented pupils.
We would also like to thank all our donators of raffle prizes – their generosity in the current climate is tantamount to the community spirit of the school. A big ‘Thank You’ to: The D Hotel, Eastern Seaboard Bar & Grill, The Black Bull, Bru Bar & Bistro, Riverside Gifts, La Spa Therapie, Renaissance Hair & Beauty, The Wise Owl, The Kangaroo Klub, Aqua Day Spa, Victor Dwyer Shoes, Relish, Smyths Toy Store, The Golf Bag, Anagenic Hair Salon, The Art & Hobby Shop, Fields Jewellers, Bryanstown Pharmacy, Maria Kane and Iris Hyland.
Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraiser, however large or small. Without your various donations and spending money we wouldn’t have had such a successful day.
You’re great!
The Fundraising Committee
